Climate Action Celebration Garden

Everyone in Canada is invited to Live the Garden Life, and share their garden. Did you know your garden helps Canada in the fight against climate change

What are you celebrating?

Canada is the first country in the world to organize a Year of the Garden! Under the auspices of the Canadian Garden Council and the Garden-Family – businesses and organizations in the ornamental horticulture sector – the Year of the Garden 2022 supports the Government of Canada’s commitment to fight climate change, protect and conserve our natural heritage, and ensure a clean, safe and sustainable environment for present and future generations. By signing up your garden as a Climate Action Celebration Garden you will be helping others learn from your gardening success. It’s an expression of how your garden helps the environment.

Share your garden. Register your Climate Action Celebration Garden at no cost, by submitting a photo of your garden. Your entry will be pinned on the map (by community not exact location) and you will receive a special downloadable Year of the Garden 2022 Celebration Garden Certificate of participation.

Celebration Garden

Want to enhance your Climate Action Celebration Garden

You can plant more plants to produce oxygen, sequester carbon, and mitigate the “heat island effect” in densely populated areas to reduce energy demand. This action aligns with the government of Canada’s commitment to plant two billion trees in the coming years. What will you plant for your Climate Action Celebration Garden

You can grow more edible gardens. Local food production in backyard, balcony, school and community gardens reduces transportation energy requirements and contributes to a healthier eating strategy. What will you grow for your Climate Action Celebration Garden?

There are even more benefits from your Climate Action Celebration Garden when it collects excess or conserves scarce water, and uses indigenous plants to attract pollinators.
