David Hinks is a master gardener and has been a guest speaker on a wide variety of topics. Three years ago he started a food bank project where he secured an acre and a half of country land for 8 years to grow squash, onions, potatoes, corn and many other types of vegetables for donation to the Lanark County food bank. Thousands of pounds of produce go to the food bank. Those who wish their own piece of a plot are encouraged. Many hours per week are devoted to looking after this garden.
