Sunday Harrison started Green Thumbs Growing Kids in 1999, as an after-school gardening and nature program for 6-12 year olds. The program then expanded to three inner city schools, developing a school garden model as a community partner able to animate the summer season with programming for all ages. The program now includes tree nurseries, with trees grown from seed by the students, as well as fruit trees and shrubs, all manner of vegetables, herbs and flowers. 4,000 children per year benefit.
